Basically, the system is not functioning and our technician has to get the system up and running; we don’t want any liability on this work in the case of a failure. If they want to buy a glass break and add to their local system without monitoring, we would like to be able to sell them the Glass breaker detector and/or install the device. Please let me know what contract to buy? *********************** Response *********************** I'll assume this is a residential account. You would use the Residential All in One and the Disclaimer Notice. [If commercial, then the Commercial All in One and Disclaimer Notice.]. When done you could ask to have the Completion Certificate signed. Here's why. Let's start with the familiar proposition that you should do no security services without a proper contract. You've been called in to service a non-functioning existing alarm system [presumably installed by someone else]. That's a Service Call. It's a repair. You would use the Residential All in One and check the Per Call Repair Service option. That same contract can be used for the sale and installation of the Glass breaker detector and any other new equipment you intend to install. If just replacing a component then the service part of the agreement is enough. Once you go to the house, unless it's very clear, and in writing, that all you have been asked to do is a repair, and leave, I suggest you get a Disclaimer Notice signed. That form will acknowledge that you recommended many other security measures available from you or others and the customer declined. That form will save you when the customer later claims you didn't suggest anything even when asked for advice. When you're finished with the job you can ask for a Completion Certificate to be signed which is an acknowledgement that you left the system working. *********************** STANDARD FORMS Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
