Resideo's Lyric panel goes dark leaving dealers high and dry

Ken
We have about 600 of these Lyric panel and Resideo decided to kill our remote programing with only a 9 day notice see a attached, this has put a hardship on us where we now have to run a truck to do something that we used to due remotely. We have many accounts that have service contacts that now we have to pay for labor to change codes, add or deleted devices, view battery life remotely and more since they turned off remote program. I would think there has to be thousands of other dealer in the same boat, do you think this could warrant a Class Action?

It is surprising that a manufacturer would discontinue a feature like remote accessibility on short notice unless for some technical reason it had no choice. If you are indeed affected as you describe then no doubt many alarm dealers are affected and the number of affected accounts could reach hundreds of thousands.  Risideo may want to consider an alternative approach and transition.
You might have a claim and it would affect many other alarm dealers; facts and issues would be common and a class action might be one way to go.  I am not a class action lawyer so I'll keep my thoughts on the matter to myself.  The loss to each alarm dealer might be significant enough to merit separate cases and that is something we can explore, but you don't need a class action for that. You didn't put a monetary number on the action you will have to take to protect your subscribers, and yourself, but there should be a number.   A wild card might be that finding enough help to add all these service calls may be very challenging considering the problem of getting good technical employees to handle all this unexpected work.
If you did have notice from Resideo that this was coming then you should have prepared better.
The Standard Form Agreements do pass on the expense of replacing obsolete or end of life of equipment no longer supported by the manufacturer on the subscriber.  Just make sure you didn't know of the impending issue when you recommended the product and service.
Anyone with some insight, please share with the rest of us.

Lyric lock - Generation of validation code AN360 (works as before)What Actions Will Be Taken on Lyric Systems the Week of April 6, 2026
To ensure Lyric Systems remain maintainable after the cut-off date, two automatic actions will be performed to support future serviceability. These may affect the Lyric systems you manage as a Dealer.
1. Local Programming Lockout
Local Programming Lockout feature will no longer work after the cut-off date. Consequently, AN360
will automatically disable Local Programming Lockout feature for all panels the week of April 6,
2026.
2. Lyric Lock
Lyric Lock feature will continue to work after the cut-off date; however, it will no longer be possible
to deactivate it through AN360. Therefore, AN360 will automatically disable the Lyric Lock feature
for all panels the week of April 6, 2026.
If you need to re-enable the Lyric Lock feature on Lyric LCP500 series panels, you will be required to do so manually via USB.
Due to the lack of a USB port, it will not be possible to re-enable Lyric Lock feature on Lyric LCP300 series panels. What You Need to Do No action is required for existing and active Lyric systems to continue operating. This communication is
intended to help you plan for future installations and system management needs.
