Comment re pyramid marketing for alarm companies
***************************
Ken
ACN is “selling” alarm monitoring services through their network marketing system.  I have personally been approached by someone about joining ACN because of the monthly residuals (read RMR) from everything you consume, like cell phones, electric and gas services, and so many more.  As with all ‘Amway like’ pitches, the appeal is how you receive residuals from all those in your “down line”.  It may not be a big deal today, but I suspect it will grow.  Personally, I have never been in a multi-level marketing organization, and I have no interest in joining, but loads of people do get started, and even if they don't substantially grow their own organization, it does redirect their own purchases through this system.

Question  re competitors defaming your company
******************************
Ken
WE HAVE BEEN IN THE ALARM SECURITY BUSINESS SINCE 1977.  RECENTLY, AT&T SALE PEOPLE ARE CONTACTING OUR CLIENTS AND TELLING THEM THAT OUR EQUIPMENT IS OUTDATED AND OUR TECHNICIANS ARE NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE NEW TECHNOLOGY.
IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO STOP THIS; E.G. A CEASE AND DESIST LETTER?  I KNOW IT IS PROBABLY GOING TO "FALL ON DEAF EARS"; HOWEVER, IT SEEMS LIKE WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
THANK YOU

I suppose you could upgrade your systems and re train your techs, but I don't think that was the response you were looking for.  On a more serious note, you can complain to local consumer agencies about deceptive sales practices.  You can also commence a lawsuit seeking an injunction and damages, though that approach may not be economically viable.  Complaining to the local manager may get you some results.  I doubt it is company policy to defame other companies or use deceptive sales practices

communication tax in AZ outlawed
*****************************
Ken,
Crickets Chirping? I would think the passage of HB2546 in Arizona, ending the communications tax on alarm monitoring, would be newsworthy.
We have contacted SDM Magazine and other trade magazines in an attempt to get this news out. Not even the "Arizona" Alarm Association will post this very important news on their web site. I would think an association, who claims to represent "Arizona" would think this is important to those alarm businesses who are located in "Arizona."
I am hoping that you will have the courage to get this news out to the industry. I understand that the "Big Boys" do not want this out there, but was hoping somehow we could expose the big lie being presented about alarm monitoring, that being that the business of selling alarm monitoring is the selling of communications. This is clearly not so and the lie being sold is to benefit those who do not monitor their clients in the State the client is located in.
Thanks for your assistance in informing Alarm Dealers,
Roger D. Score, President
Arizona Alarm Dealers Association
