QUESTION: NEW OWNER WON'T ALLOW ACCESS
*******************
Ken,
I look forward to your emails.  They keep me aware of what I should be doing.
I have a question about programming out a security system that I do not have access to.
We had a customer move without letting us know.  The new owners do not want the service but will not let us on site to program it out.  It's disconnected from the telephone line.  Do I have any recourse against the new home owners?  Some how I feel they have in their possession my data.
    Thank you.
PS your disclaimer form is a great sales tool for residential customers that want to use VoIP for telephone service.
Best Regards,

Program out?  I assume that means program the communication device so it doesn't call the central station.  That doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment since the system is not connected to the telephone line.  If the equipment was leased you could start an action for repliven.  I am guessing this residential system was sold.  If you had remote access you could disable the communication.  You could pursue an action against your subscriber, who apparently skipped out without letting you know.  If you have them under contract you can hold them to it.  The Standard All in One agreements authorize you to access the system for programming, but in this scenario that won't do you much good if you can't communicate with the system.
I am not clear what data you are concerned the new homeowner has.

ACCESSING CCTV IN EUROPE
******************
Ken
I work as a contract analyst for international insurance company. We control, access, access cards, cameras, fire and intrusion alarms for all office sites. We were just told that it is illegal to monitor or access cctv office feed from Great Britain & Germany except in emergency situations. Overnight all (several 100), cameras were normally open & closed to check for operation. Now no oversea checks, is this really true ?, isn't London the most cctv monitored in the world? And if true what about Canada ? If you can't answer can you refer me to who can ? Thanks for your time.

CENTRAL STATION MONITORING
*********************
Ken
We are installing a fire alarm for a commercial customer thru an electrical contractor.  We are finishing up the job and the owner now says he wants the system monitored thru a central station in Calif.  We are in SC and have our own central station.  Are we accepting any liability programming the other company's central station info into the fire panel.  In 55 years of history this has never happened.  Thanks for your opinion.

RESPONSE
*******************
Many dealers rely on wholesale central stations.  I can understand that you like to tie your installations into your own central, but using another central, especially  one selected by the subscriber, will not increase your risk.  Make sure you get the new central's response policy in writing and give the subscriber a copy.
