The 2nd floor is undergoing a tenant improvement and they have their own engineers that did MEP drawings including fire and we have to submit shop drawings for the fire alarm. The project was awarded to a GC and a EC is sub contracting us for parts and smarts. We purchased all your agreements including the subcontractor agreements (both ways) My Responsibilities: Perform the FA shop drawings (EC is pulling all permits) Provide parts and smarts (devices and programming - we are not installing) Who needs what contracts considering I am working for the EC as a sub? Building Owner: Tenant: GC: EC: Thank you Joseph *********************** Response *********************** You have a lot of relationships here. Sounds like the engineers engaged you to do Shop Drawings. You should have them sign the FIRE ALARM DESIGN AGREEMENT The EC needs the parts and you to program the system once installed. The EC needs to sign the FIRE ALARM PARTS AND SMARTS AGREEMENT. You are technically a subcontractor for the EC but in this case the Smarts and Parts contract is more specific than the Subcontract Agreement. The building owner should sign the Fire All in One with the boxes checked for monitoring, repair service and inspection, assuming you will be performing those services. Having the right contract for the specific service is like having the right tool to get a job done. It's awful hard to knock in a nail with a screw driver. ********************** STANDARD FORM AGREEMENTS: To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** WEBINARS: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-webinars *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
