MORE ON: IS PHONE COMPANY REQUIRED TO RESTORE ALARM ON CONVERSION OF PHONE SYSTEM FROM OCT 16 2016 ARTICLE
***************************
Ken
Regarding work in the home with an alarm by a phone vendor I have talked with a number of providers of cable services and their technicians were instructed to determine if an alarm is in the home.  If so they were requested to send a signals and confirm it was working BEFORE the technician did anything.  If it worked on arrival it must work on departure.  I hesitate to name the provider for fear of insulting, but I think this is a very positive thing and they should respond to you and say IT IS US.....

RESPONSE
**************************
My home phone line service went out [and is out as I write this].  I have copper lines.  Verizon has graciously agreed to come to house and check it out 3 days after I reported the outage.  I have to be home 8 to 12.  I told them if they can't get there by 9 I'm going to work.  Don't think they cared. By the way, it only took 1.5 hours to get through to Verizon because its phone number didn't connect and it's website was impossible to navigate.  Finally managed to Chat on line.  Where am I going with this?
While messing with Verizon I contacted Cablevision and scheduled a change to its phone service [that's who I use for internet at the house].  I'll save about $60 bucks a month but it's better service I am looking for.
Why do I still have copper lines, that Verizon tells me it doesn't want to fix anymore.  Well, I agreed to have them change to Fios.  After 4 missed appointments they finally brought the line to the house [they spent day burying the line from pole to house].  But the crew that brought the lines to the house wouldn't bring the lines in and set up the Fios.  That was another crew.  After another 3 or 4 missed visits I told Verizon to F off and I'd stick with copper, knowing it would bust their chops to keep fixing it.  Well, they got me; no service at all now for another 3 days.  They can fix it and then lose the account to Cablevision a week later.
    Yeah, I'm a typical customer.
O, I forgot why I got into this.  I asked what Cablevision was going to do about my alarm.  I was assured that it would be connected when the cable guy left and it's actually on the appointment confirmation notice I received.  I probably won't be home when they get here but my new DragonFly camera system will alert me.  I'll keep you posted.
