COMPANIES LOOKING FOR ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE AND SIGNS - CAN YOU HELP?
***********************
Ken;
    Would it be possible to pose a question to the readers? Can anyone recommend an accounting program for the alarm industry?  We are looking for an accounting package to replace our outdated system. One that includes accounting, proposals, invoicing, service orders, etc. There are many on the market but we would prefer to purchase one that has been proven, something common to the security industry. My contact info is sales@alliancesecurity.ca
Thanks for your assistance and keep up the great work.

SUB MOVING EQUIPMENT

Ken
    We have a few customers who are using videofied systems.  The systems are portable.  If a customer moves the system from one location to another, do we need a new contract with the customer?  Is it acceptable to move the system and have the customer sign a service contract without a new contract?

    The All in One Agreement does state that the system can't be moved.  If you are selling a portable system then that should be changed in the description of Schedule and Services.  If you'll be monitoring a new location you'll need new information and a new contract unless your contract specifically provides for the move.

MONITORING FIRE
********************
Ken,
    Is it wise to monitor, not service, a fire alarm system that does not meet code, even if the AHJ has approved it?  Also, do your fire alarm monitoring contracts cover a dealer that only monitors a fire alarm system?
    Thank you for your newsletters and for your contracts.  Both are very beneficial to our business and industry.

    You can monitor fire alarm without providing service or inspection.  Just be sure that is what your agreement provides for.  The Commercial Fire All in One can be used for that, just using the monitoring provision.  The Fire All in One will clearly state that the system is not code compliant, though in your case the AHJ has approved it.  Still would be good idea to let sub know that the installation or monitoring service is not going to be code or industry standard [if that's also the case].
