Question:

Hi Ken,

I'd Like to start by saying that I have enjoyed and found most informative your daily E-mails on various subjects within the security industry.

Being in the industry for 26 years seems to allow me plenty of experience, however there is something to be learned new every day after reading your teachings, and advice.

I just acquired a fire system renovation-upgrade for a very good client in NYC. Is there a different sales and monitoring agreement that should be used instead of the regular standard security sales agreement, and the standard security equipment monitoring agreement for fire? Thank You for Your Advice,

Howard S

The Fire All in One was designed for commercial fire alarm subscribers, and it is the premier contract for fire.  It covers the sale, installation, monitoring, inspection and service - everything that you could be providing your fire subscriber.  If you offer less than all those services for a particular subscriber you would omit part of the contract terms.  This contract is a front and back contract, with all required written inserts on the front page, along with the signatures.

The Fire All in One encourages compliance with local AHJ requirements, which clearly separates it from the Standard All in One contract.  While you could use the Standard All in One for fire, the Fire All in One is designed specifically for that contractual arrangement - fire.  I would suggest using the Standard All in One for intrusion and other non fire applications.

There is a Standard Fire Alarm Monitoring contract which is suitable for a fire monitoring relationship with a commercial subscriber.  Also, there is a separate Fire Inspection with per call service provision.

Anyone doing commercial fire should be using the Fire All in One.
