Fire alarm question
***************************
Ken,
Enjoy reading your responses. Quite informative.  I have a question/concern of my own.  What system will be required to replace an existing strapkey system in a high rise (45 storey) building in Manhattan? Ive been asking around and nobody seem to have an answer.

central stations competing from May 30, 2014 article

Ken,
I find your forum very informative. I would like to add my input to this issue.
"Common Sense"..........know who you are doing business with.
"Protective covenants".............if they cross the line, make them pay!
"Owning your phone line"...... ......smart way to insure a happy relationship .
In absent of any of the above, find a central station in a different time zone, since
the account would be difficult to service.  The dealers must do their due diligence as they would with
a subscriber.  A central may not deal with the "end user"today, but tomorrow is only a promise. Remember "IN GOD
WE TRUST", all others must call Kirschenbaum & Kirschenbaum.

Ken:
An “anon” writer stated in part in the May 30 newsletter: “I will never in any way possible help, feed or financially assist anyone or any organization that is also my competitor in the market place….”
His position is very clear, but…..
I wonder if that gentleman uses DSC Equipment, or Kan-tech Access – Owned by Tyco who is now a big name in sales, installation and service of alarm systems.  Tyco – who until recently owned ADT – likely the biggest alarm company in the world.
Does he use Simon, Caddx, Verex, Lenel equipment – Owned by UTC who owns Chubb-Edwards – Canada’s second or third largest alarm company.
And these are just a couple that come to mind.

Ken, I'm curious if there is a negative reason that criticom (cms) is not on your alarm exchange as a central station.
Been with them forever but don't want to support them if they are counter productive e to the industry.
Thanks,
Armando

They probably  haven't asked to be listed on The Alarm Exchange.  Should they be?

Ken
Everyone thinks the grass is greener on the other side. You can not get auto repair or motor oil at a gas station because they sell food in a quick mart store. You may have to go to supermarket to buy motor oil or car light bulb. They sell more of that than healthy food. Speaking about food. It is made with chemicals, artificial flavor and color. Why in the right mind would you spend money on chemicals when food can be made without chemicals cheaper and healthier. Try to get cup of coffee at a coffee chain franchise. It takes forever because they sell bagels and donuts. When you get the coffee then you have to "make it yourself" at a little counter with milk and sugar. Want a donut? Don't go to a donut store. They usually have empty or near empty shelves. World has changed and usually not to better. In the really big business, the top few, the war is even worse. It is dog-eat-dog. It isn't even business anymore. It is a prestige who makes more billions.
