Fire Alarm All in One updated for lighting- follow up to article on October 17, 2025
******************
There is sufficient interest in performing Emergency Lighting inspection. As noted by  Joseph Montuori, SET |  Member  Nicet Level IV Fire Alarm Systems of Titan Fire Protection, LLC in Connecticut Emergency Lighting inspection is covered by NFPA-101.  While alarm dealers cannot install the Emergency Lighting because its 110 volt electrical, the alarm dealer can provide the annual inspection [monthly too if the customer wants].
The Fire All in One has been updated to provide for this inspection service.  It is now included as one of the inspection options.
Thanks to Peter Goldring and Wayne Wahrsager for clarifying this for me, as well as Joe Montuori.

UL monitoring certificate- follow up to Jewelers burglary case against Johnson Control dismissed article on October 22, 2025
********************
There may be some confusion regarding the UL certificate issued by alarm companies for the alarm services.  Hopefully its not me adding to the confusion.
Alarm dealers[who are Listed by UL] can offer to install UL Certified Alarm Systems and issue a Mercantile UL Certificate. They cannot, however, issue a UL Certified Central Station Monitoring Certificate.
The UL Certified Central Station Monitoring Certificate can only be issued by the UL Listed Monitoring Center.  The UL Listed Monitoring Center cannot issue that UL Certified Central Station Certificate unless the monitoring center is in direct contract with the subscriber for inspection, repair service and monitoring.
The subscriber is always the dealer's customer, not the central station's customer.  However if the dealer needs to get the UL Certified Central Station Certificate issued the appropriate contract is the Three Party Monitoring Agreement for UL Certified Systems.  The three way contract is also used by central stations when the dealer doesn't have an acceptable contract with the subscriber.  The UL Certified form is different to indicate that the central station is responsible for the inspection, service and monitoring, which services it can delegate to the dealer, under the central station's supervision.  The Three Way Central Station Monitoring Agreement is one of the Kirschenbaum Contracts
TM and central station's ordering this form should let K&K's Contract Administrator Eileen Wagda 516 747 6700 x 312 EWagda@Kirschenbaumesq.com, know that the contract for the UL certified service is requested.
The two forms, for UL certified and not certified, are different, primarily because the three party contract for non-UL certified monitoring systems will not impose inspection, repair and monitoring responsibilities directly with the monitoring center.
