contracting for health care of camera system
**************************
Ken,
We are looking to start offering a service to our clients that monitors the health of their camera systems. I have attached a description of what we would provide for this service. Can you tell me if our current contract covers something like this, or do we need to add something for this? Please let me know if you have any questions or need more details. Thank you!
Here is what our service looks like:
"Health monitoring of the camera system is included, with automated alerts and notifications provided within business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, upon detection of system issues. Remote troubleshooting capabilities are also included to help ensure timely resolution. This service will be provided at no charge for the first three (3) months. Beginning in the fourth (4th) month, a monthly fee of $0.00 will be implemented. If you decide not to continue this service, you may cancel at any time by providing notice. Customer to provide internet connection at the equipment location."

Maybe I am being cavalier [I've been accused of that ...] but, this seems much ado about nothing.  [The phrase "much ado about nothing" comes from William Shakespeare’s 1599 comedy play of the same name. "Ado" is an old-fashioned term for fuss or trouble, meaning the phrase describes a lot of commotion or excitement over something insignificant.]
How much different is this from providing line security and periodic testing? How is this different from the TV guy I have telling me he can get alert when I am having an AV problem and remote in to fix it, yet he never seems to do that?
You can set up alerts to signals when some component of the security system is not working.  Security encompasses a lot of different systems that you likely offer, such as intrusion, access control, cameras, temperature, water to name a few.  In my mind it encompasses all low voltage equipment intended as security; it does not include fire prevention or fire alarm detection.  It also, BTW, does not include any protection, only detection.
Signals can be sent to the subscriber directly or to the central station, or both.  The central station can notify anyone you want, including the dealer. In some scenarios the dealer wants to be notified before or instead of the subscriber, and I have counseled that such arrangement is a mistake putting the dealer at unnecessary risk; don't put yourself in the loop of notification.  You can wait until the end of the day or next day to get a report of alarm activity for all your accounts.
The Commercial All in One and the Residential All in One cover all security systems and services.  You do however have to use the Schedule of Equipment and Services which is where you would be adding the service you describe above. You can even cover the charges in the Schedule [lots of dealers use their proposal as the schedule].  Once you specify the service you intend to perform you will be covered by the terms and conditions of the All in One agreement.
So you already have the K&K Contract you can use.  If you are going to offer only this service I can see why you might want a specific contract form jazzing up the service and identifying the contract for Health Care System Monitoring, but this is just going to be one more service you will provide and you don't need a dedicated or special contract for it.
