In reference to the SimpliUnsafe question posed by PM on 11-25-2020, a simple Google search should give you plenty of “ammunition” to combat their intrusion (pun intended) into the professionally installed space.  BUT, not every end user wants/needs or knows what they want/need…

E&O coverage

Ken
We’ve purchased all of our alarm contracts from you in the past , and at this time we are looking to get new quotes for our errors and omissions insurance policy. I was wondering if there are any brokers that you can recommend.
Regards
Mike

The Alarm Exchange has a category for insurance companies and insurance brokers.  All of the listings are well qualified to obtain E&O coverage for the alarm industry. The important message here is that you do need Errors and Omissions coverage added to your general liability policy to protect you from claims arising from your work, whether it be design, installation, monitoring, inspection or service.  You will find that just about every reputable carrier is going to ask about your contracts and some may demand that you have and use proper contracts before agreeing to insure you.  I am confident that you will find that all carriers will accept Kirschenbaum Contracts ™ and that should make things easier for you when applying for coverage.
Be sure to ask about additional insureds – whether your carrier will permit it or charge extra for it.  Ask about contractual indemnity coverage – is it available and is there an extra charge.  Ask about claims – whether they will engage K&K to defend or let you bring us in as our counsel at the carrier’s expense or whether they will be calling ghost busters.
Coverage limits.  Most small to medium size companies are probably OK with $1,000,000 signal limit and $2,000,000 aggregate.  If you do commercial fire then 3 to 5 million would be more suitable. Larger companies, $100,000 plus RMR, consider 5 million and if you do large commercial fire jobs 10 to 20 million is something you should be looking at.
