The cell jamming detection device is offered by a few manufacturers. The device detects jamming efforts and alerts the central station. The provision has not been added to the Residential Security Agreement and it has not been added to the Commercial Fire Alarm Agreement. Does this provision belong in these other agreements? As you should know the K&K Contracts are being updated now for 2027 and I’d like to get as many of the modifications in now, so feedback is appreciated. The Thermal Imaging provision has been deleted for the Standard Form Agreements for 2027. ************************* Do we need Thermal Imaging provision ************************* Ken - That provision should likely be removed. In the current market if a typical dealer or integrator was asked to install a body temperature monitoring thermal camera they should decline the work. During covid, those devices had a burst of demand, and many companies needed the money associated with providing them, but none of the installs ever came close to what would be needed for reliable accuracy. While this was mostly ignored during that time, today I think it is better understood that thermal cameras cannot be used for reliable body temperature monitoring in a standoff install in the typical lobby or entrance areas. The thermal devices that are truly “intended for initial body temperature assessment for triage use”, as your provision states, are not the surveillance thermal cameras the typical dealer has access to and are installing. Given what is commonly understood about these devices today, that they are known to not be reliable or even remotely accurate for this function, there could be the potential of liability for installing equipment that cannot perform the intended function satisfactorily. Maybe your clause would protect the dealer anyway, I don’t know. But the risk isn’t worth it given the other market opportunities. That clause can be removed and general guidance given to simply refuse installs for that purpose, which I doubt will ever occur anyway. Brian K ************************* Ken I think the clause regarding the thermal cameras, especially as it pertains to them being used to screen for diseases is about three years out of date. One thing that I would like to see, though in the next version of the disclaimer is that we offered the customer cell jamming detection.. as a DMP dealer.. Ean B ************************* Response ************************* As noted above the above comments confirmed my thought that the thermal imaging provision has seen it’s day [if it ever had a day]. ************************* STANDARD FORMS Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements. click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
