Hi Ken,

Our company recently purchased contracts from your web site, and when doing so I set up for your daily emails and just wanted to thank you for the great information. I have been in this industry for about 18 years and just enjoy the ever changing technology, codes, and really just everything associated with it.

There is something that came across my desk that you might know something about, and if so can you discuss in one of your daily emails.

I am sure that each state is different however:

“*Business cards...must include owner’s Massachusetts A license number under company logo... this is law in mass and they will and have fined for it. This goes for all Logos and letterheads or advertisements including truck lettering. I will look into any requirement for NH. Also should add Nicet certified logo as well as some of my licenses under my job title.”

I will keep reading, and just wanted to thank you for the great information.

Yours for Greater Safety,

Michele Vennochi, Division Manager

One of things we do when providing our Standardized Forms is customize the form. That means more than inserting your name and address. We are continuously reviewing state and local laws to see what is required to be in your contracts. Contract forms are modified all the time to keep pace with these changes in law. One area of compliance can be found in licensing laws which typically require disclosure of name, address, phone, license number and licensing agency, sometimes with a phone number to call to file a complaint.

Just today I spoke to a NY alarm company that used a corporate DBA. I asked if the license was issued in the name of the DBA or the corporate name and found out that the license was in the corporate name. That is going to result in a fine if there is an audit because the publicized name needs to correspond to the licensed entity and name on the license. This is most likely the case in all licensed jurisdictions and in others with consumer protection laws. Be sure to check your letterhead, business cards, invoices, contracts, print advertisements, web site, vehicle signs, lawn signs and decals,

Just something else to keep in mind.
