Ken,
I know customers can assume existing contracts if a building is bought or sold but if they want to change the legal billing name can they do that if they are assuming the contract or does it need a new agreement?

The Assignment and Assumption Agreement contemplates a change of subscriber name; that's the purpose of the agreement.  Out with the old and in with the new, using the existing agreement whereby the new owner agrees to be bound by it.  Of course that contract will be the existing one; always better getting a new updated contract unless the new owner won't agree to it.  Then you can ride out the balance of the existing contract term and hope to go into renewal, assuming the existing contract is a proper contract with all the protection you'd get from an updated Kirschenbaum Contracts
TM.

Ken,
When one of our clients has us move systems to a new address do we need to get a new agreement signed if all their other information is remaining the same?

When you say "all other information is the same" I doubt that to be the case, not that it would matter because the answer is, yes, you need a new updated contract.  More than the address is being changed.  The agreement has to contemplate the installation of a system, even if it's all used parts from the prior location, which, by the way, is not likely; some new equipment and material will be needed.  The buildilng layout is likely different which means the security system is likely different and a new Disclaimer Notice should be signed as well.  Of course you can't just move a fire alarm, unless you're talking about a residential customer who wants you to move a smoke detector, which is very unlikely.
Use every opportunity to get an updated and upgraded contract from your subscriber.

electronic contracts recommendations

Ken
I am about to begin transitioning to electronic signatures for not only our Ken contracts, but, also our service tickets and other forms.  I know there is Docusign and also Adobe has an offering. I would appreciate hearing for the audience as to what they are using and what they like or dislike the electronic signature function ( i.e.: price, ease of use, ease of implementation, support if something goes ‘south’ and of course SECURITY ). My office phone #816-333-5233 and just ask for Joe………or email me at jmp@jadealarm.com
    I do appreciate the information…….
Respectfully,
Joseph (Joe) Pfefer, President & Founder

There is at least one recommendation on The Alarm Exchange under Technology and Services that Increases your RMR, but everyone is welcome to share your experience with the electronic contract services.
