Are jammers covered in contracts
********************
Ken
At the CMS Presidents forum in Orlando with Tony Wilson a dealer out of Cincinnati was talking to us about the latest break-ins targeting upscale houses using jammers and breaking into master bedrooms only not opening a door.   I think the jammers are jamming the cell unit so a hardwired ethernet would be recommended.
The jammers are really good at jamming wifi cameras so hardwired is obvious solution.
Is there anything in our K&K contract that covers Jammers?
Thanks,
 Jarey S

This is a great question.  The K&K contracts do cover you for deficiencies in the alarm system, and not just jammers.  The ways alarm systems can be circumvented would be too many to try and list separately, though the Disclaimer Notice tries to do just that.  The Standard Form Agreements all have a catch-all provision that more equipment has been offered.  Because that seemingly innocuous statement may need elaboration I have consistently recommended using the Disclaimer Notice with all agreements.  The Disclaimer Notice is not a contract; it’s an acknowledgment by the customer that you have explained and suggested more equipment and services, which should always be the case and part of your sale presentation.
The Disclaimer Notice has the following introduction:
“The undersigned acknowledges that a representative of ALARM COMPANY has explained additional equipment, systems and protection that may be available from ALARM COMPANY, for additional charges, and the undersigned has had sufficient opportunity to consider the additional services that may be available, and has decided not to request or contract for such additional equipment, systems or protection. The additional equipment, systems and protection discussed included but was not limited to the following:”
          Included in the list is
● hard wire systems
and a long list of other security equipment and services you or someone else could provide the customer.
So, it’s the customer who sets the limit on the security, not you.

The Issue is that the central stations are forcing things overnight instead of training the dealers on why what they are doing is making more sense. 2024 is not 1969 and technology has come a long way. If dealers want to get involved they should be joining their associations or SIA so they are part of the change

Participation in local trade associations is both educational and worth the time and effort for business and personal contacts and satisfaction.  But, the issue is cs providing sufficient notice and training on how signals will be handled; that's the real issue.

55 yrs [Joseph Pfefer, President & Founder of Jade Alarm Co] I can relate. This is a great example of the value of this forum.  Mr. Pfefer is a pro with real world experiences that he shared for the benefit of others.  And you created the forum to facilitate that. Thanks to both.
