Answer:
The devil with RVU compensation structure is in the details. If after reading carefully the construct does not make sense, it is very likely the language used actually does not make sense. There may be a definition missing, or perhaps the RVU (relative value units) explanation provided in your contract does not also show the multiple, the geographic physician work values.
One of the best ways to address is to ask the employer to provide an example of how RVU compensation will actually work based on reasonable projections. It may be easier to determine if all definitions are provided if the example does not add up. Of course, with any contract, you should have a healthcare attorney assist in assessment and potential negotiation.
