Homeowner said to cancel the FD – my policy was to NEVER cancel on fire dispatch. The bathroom fan had burst into flames – homeowner said WE WALKED ON WATER! THEN….. Had convenience store holdup alarm received. My Central Station Dispatchers got a phone call and told to cancel the alarm. NO CODE ID was given – so, we did NOT CANCEL. REAL manager was on the floor with bullet wound severing the femur artery. Thief fled KCMO PD EXCELLENT (at the time) response equaled the manager’s life being saved by the responding officer! Procedures are there for a REASON! Respectfully, Joseph Pfefer ********************* Response ********************* I agree and think it’s easier and safer to comply with dispatch procedures which of course should comport with industry standards and contractual commitments. It becomes a little trickier when the subscriber is in a false alarm fine area. Fire and CO detectors can be another tricky call, especially if no one is home when the First Responders get there. But that’s why your contract should be in place to protect you from pesky false alarm fines and damage caused by First Responders when no emergency is found. You only have to be wrong once on a canceled dispatch to remember it for the rest of your life. You’ll forget about the false alarm fines and customer gripes quickly. ******************** To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
