I have given up on using Honeywell/Resideo communicators and only use Alula who recently merged with M2M. the device almost always has cell service and phone app is far more responsive than Total Connect.

We have consistent issues with Honeywell Radios. We replaced a lot of radios during the 3G sunset and have been replacing almost all of them again due to these failures. I believe one of my technicians heard from a tech support person that this is a known issue with the model we were using. We’re in a difficult position of having to replace the radios and the clients not wanting to pay for the replacement and Honeywell is unresponsive and will not provide any assistance. I’m sure other dealers are having issues we just haven’t heard about it yet. At first I thought it might be a one off issue, but then we started having more go bad.
  Respectfully,
John B

Ken,
I have very little problems with the Napco Starlink Cellular Transmitters for Fire or Burg.

I think you guys have to look beyond honeywell, napco and tellguard. You need to look at the carriers Verizon and ATT. Their infrastructures suck!!  They now have Analytics. Nuff said

We are having the same issues with the AlarmNet radios.
The majority of our cellular radios are AlarmNet but no problems with others.
Of course, AES is rock solid with some radios over 15 years old.

AS a Control4 dealer I am very concerned about Resideo buying SnapAV. SnapAV has the worst accounting department. They would not apply credits to your account unless you asked them to. Now I would expect Resideo to make changes to the product itself to save money.

Just a comment on cellular communicators.  We use a different vender but apparently you can have too strong of a signal getting to the radio.  If this happens, it will tend to fail at times.  You can get a small attenuator pad that just screws in series with the antenna to lower the signal.  It works so far.

Ken:
We have been using Ademco/Honeywell/Resideo product for about 45 years now. For the most part, our experience--even in recent Resideo years—has been largely favorable. However, we have also been experiencing too-high numbers of Comm Fail Issues with their LTE Radios – even a few that have Ethernet connected as the Primary Source. As others have described, the Radio Signal Quality, Noise, and Receiver Levels show as Good to Excellent, but the radios go into Comm Fail and require an onsite hard reboot to start working again; Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to Radio Model # or age. Tech Support consistently says that there are no known issues and that we should just relocate the radio, or add an antenna – neither of which has resolved this particular problem.  We have too much invested with Resideo to casually move to another platform, but it may come to that as we are losing a lot of money on Truck Rolls for these mystery issues.

At this point Honeywell has had sufficient time to respond; it hasn’t. Continued use of that product seems like a bad idea.
Also, the recommendations point to Napco Starlink, Tellguard and AES.
