We are under agreement with our current central so I was hoping you could review that and let me know our liability. I also wanted you to review the agreement with our new central to see your thoughts on that agreement. I realize one or both of these may be your clients. I am looking to make an amicable transition and not burn any bridges. Name withheld *************** Response *************** I work with a lot of central stations and even have some influence when disputes arise. If you’ve been with your current central station for a long time and differences are at an impasse then it may be as ready as you are for you to switch. Remember, there are usually at least two sides to every story. Unless the central station has invested in your account by way of forgivable loan, cheaper rates or set-up charges or some other benefits above and beyond monitoring your accounts for standard rates, it should allow you to leave, perhaps with some nominal penalty. Of course you should expect to pay everything you owe up until the time you leave and don’t expect the central station to assist with your transition without charge. As far as the new central station goes I can tell you now that you will need our standard Rider to Dealer Agreement which addresses most if not all issues that should be important to you and many of which probably do contradict the Dealer Agreement, but the central station should agree to modify. If the central station won’t budge or even look at the Rider then don’t go there; if it’s on The Alarm Exchange let me know so I can kick them off for being unreasonable. ********************** To order up to dateStandard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements, click here: www.alarmcontracts.com ************************* CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** NOTICE: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles *********************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE
