Employee Contract makes for good employee relationship
********************
An Employee Contract makes for good employee relationship.  Sort of like, a fence makes for good neighbors.  Though you want the Employee Contract to protect against unfair competition and other disloyalty, the employee should also want the Employment Agreement so that the terms of service are clear and expectations are based on firm contract provisions, rather than pie in the sky promises or hopes.
The Employment Contract should be signed by every employee, not just the ones you have concerns about.
K&K offers an Employment Contract form and it is customized for each state.  It needs to be because the law in each state can be different on certain important points, the most important of which may be the Restrictive Covenant.  Some states will readily enforce a provision that prevents an x-employee from working for a competitor or competing against you, and other states may severely restrict enforcement or may prohibit the provisions altogether.
One thing is for sure, you may not dwell on the need for Employment Contracts until of course the issue arises, and then you will be focused on the issue; you will regret you don’t have an enforceable employment agreement in place.
The Standard Form Employment Agreement is available at www.alarmcontracts.com ; it’s reasonably priced and we will check your state law before completing the form and sending it to you.
Don’t confuse the Employment Agreement with the Employee Handbook.  Yes, there is some overlap, but the Handbook is more detailed about your company rules, benefits and procedures; HR issues.  The Handbook is also a standardized form though we will customize it for your company with your specific rules once you have the form and request changes or additions.
