Does maglock need fire alarm release
************************
Ken,
I’ve purchased contracts from you in the past and need to get updated contracts to get with the times in 2023. I also need advice and possibly a “hold harmless” letter for a project we’re working on where the customer wants us to connect two maglock interior doors to our access control system but they state no fire alarm release is needed.        Please let me know what’s needed from my end including a cost if you’re interested I do not want to connect the maglocks to my system if they are not in compliance and even if the fire alarm release isn’t needed I want to protect myself with this letter.  This would be an existing fire alarm with a new access control system and new maglocks. Customer claims these doors are not egress. For the contracts; The All-in-One that covers everything including monitoring would be best
  Thank you.
Rocco

I can’t tell you whether the maglocks need a fire alarm release.  What I can tell you is that you better find out before you do the installation, because a contract, no contract, is going to protect you if a fire alarm release is needed and you install a maglock without the fire alarm release.
Once you find out if the maglock needs the fire alarm release you need to figure out whether that lock is considered part of the fire alarm, in which event it may need to be in the approved plans and specs, with Fire Marshall approval, or if it’s part of the access control system and not part of the fire alarm system.
If it’s part of the fire alarm system then you need the Fire All in One.  If it’s part of the access control system then you need the Commercial All in One.  If it’s a hybrid and considered part of both systems, then the fire alarm system controls and you use the Fire All in One.

Resi customer in default

Ken,
I have a residential monitoring customer that is only four months into his three-year contract. He is not paying the rest of the contract and I can't get him to return any calls so as far as I'm concerned; he's breach. I am using the contracts that I purchased from you and is signed by him.
What would it take for you to go after him and how much?
John

It would entail you contacting our head paralegal Kathleen Lampert, getting her the contract and papers for this customer, signing our Retainer for Collections, filling out our Commence Litigation Worksheet, sending us all the papers and a check for $175 to commence an arbitration.  In this case a 30 day letter will be required first, which is part of the collection process.  Our legal fees are one third of what we recover; you are responsible for all out of pocket expense and disbursements.
