contract for builder
********************************
Ken,
I'm working with a small local home builder, with the Alarm.com builder program.
What this means is I will be selling/installing security systems for the builder (no fire), prior to a home's completion, where the builder will be using the security systems for their own benefit.  Once the homes close and the home buyers take possession, I would then sell on-going monitoring to the homebuyers, and have them sign standard residential contacts.  The builder wants all kinds of changes in my Residential  All in One.  What do you advise?

Builders are usually interested in the installation only; sometimes monitoring.  You can use the Commercial All in One for the builder.  The homeowner will be signing the Residential All in One.  If the builder is building more than one house then you should use the Rider for Multiple Location.  That would also be the case for a commercial owner with more than one location that wants to sign only one contract.
Any contract form presented by the builder, or most subscribers for that matter, will contain provisions that are opposite to the terms in your contract.  Sometimes, if you want the job, you have no choice but to sign the subscriber's contract.  Be sure to also get the All in One signed because the All in One has a provision that should supersede the subscriber's contract terms; at least that's how it's supposed to work.

Ken
Regarding the question about disruption of the camera market, two weeks ago I sent emails to our distributors letting them know China had closed it’s factories from Chinese New Year, until recently.  Sperry West had a good inventory of circuit boards and other items needed to make our covert cameras, I warned of the fact that by the time we receive new products ordered from several factories that have gone back to work, we would be likely to run out of many products.  Unfortunately, that prediction is coming true.  I know that we aren’t the only camera maker & supplier that is experiencing problems.  We source products from China, Taiwan & Korea, but China is the main supplier to the world market and we are all starting to be effected and do not know when things will return to “normal”.
