I just noticed whereby the alarm company indicated they ‘ran the fire pumps’ – they need to ensure they actually are notifying their insurance agent/company regarding this function. Many of the insurance companies, when they find out we would even TOUCH a Fire Pump would dis-allow coverage!
No good deed shall go unpunished! – We were working in the Pump House when the building maintenance man went down and started to ‘mess’ with the Fire Pump – his screwdriver either got dropped or lost and he asked MY TECHNICIAN to borrow my Tech’s screwdriver! Needless to say the building maintenance person had NO IDEA what the proper adjustments were and burned up the Fire Pump – there were threats back & forth with lawyers having to be involved! AND, of course we lost a valuable customer……
We no longer ‘loan’ tools!

This brings up a topic about poor quality inspections where the reports are done at a different place and time from where the "alleged inspection" is done. Many questions on the forms can't be done from memory. Rather the inspector knocks off early, completes the form at home, or alternatively, other than replace the tag does nothing. A dead give-away of this is a form with yes, no, n/a boxes with a straight line thru all the yes or no boxes.

Needless to say the fire alarm inspection reports need to be accurate and completed with care. It's the one that you prepare late or are sloppy with that ends up being the one you need in court to defend yourself.
