Also the phone that could not take a digital line could have been replaced with aOoma pot replacement line with no need to change the phone. I have been in the Elevator Space for 22 years and it is its own industry. Before signing with anyone learn more because there are many options for elevator phones and lines. Sincerely, Elizabeth Courtney, Vice President Beacon Security Inc ************************** Response ************************** Knowing “situations and codes” is good advice for all security, fire, alarm, access control, camera and any other work alarm companies do. This is particularly important advice for fire alarm and elevator monitoring [and I don’t want to diminish the significance of knowing everything about the work you do for any life-safety systems or services]. The K&K Elevator Agreement, like the other Standard Forms doesn’t specify the codes and custom and practice, they presume you know what you’re doing. To engage in life-safety installations and services without the requisite knowledge would could easily be deemed reckless and grossly negligent conduct, much different and worse, I might add, then engaging in such services without the required license [which doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t know what you’re doing]. Using the proper contract and having the requisite knowledge is a great best practice start. ************************* Customer cancels but wants continued service ************************* Ken Someone purchased a house we had a system in. The new owners signed the agreement and decided to cancel on day 3 which was fine. They asked to pay for the rest of the month which probably gives them time to search for another vendor or use; SimpiSafe, which is what they mentioned. We did send them an invoice for additional parts they needed and tested their system. Question is - allow them to pay for the month and then cancel or shut their service off immediately? Alan R **************************** Response **************************** Simple answer. Do no work without a contract. You don’t have a contract. Do no work. Shut them down immediately. You can bet that if they have a loss and the alarm didn’t work they or their carrier will be the first to let you know there is no written contract with any protective clauses; you were working on a handshake. ********************* WEBINARS SCHEDULE and REGISTRATION: SOFTWARE // CENTRAL STATIONS ********************** SOFTWARE WEBINARS: With all the discussion, and dissatisfaction, about management software our first webinar series is by software providers offering comprehensive software programs for the alarm industry. ********************** Title: Fieldhub: All In One Operations and Accounting Software For Security and Fire Integrators When: October 3, 2023 noon ET Why attend: FieldHub is a comprehensive software program that integrates proposals, planning, warehouse inventory management, scheduling, field technician mobile applications, invoicing, accounting, tracking systems and devices, creation and linkage of a central station account, and much more Who should attend: managers and owners Presented by: Miles Fawcett, Founder and CEO of FieldHub Inc. 202.417.8196; miles@fieldhub.com www.fieldhub.com Hosted by: Ken Kirschenbaum, Kirschenbaum & Kirschenbaum PC Register here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2290942861013931612 *********************** Title: Innovative Business Software: operating software for central stations When: October 5, 2023 noon ET Why attend: Innovative Business Software is central station solution to smooth operation and integration Who should attend: managers and owners Presented by: Jen Kolind, President and CEO of Innovative Business Software Inc. 469 556 2822; jens.kolind@innovative247.com www.innovative247.com Hosted by: Ken Kirschenbaum, Kirschenbaum & Kirschenbaum PC Register here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2817426411948243036 *********************** Title: WorkHorseSCS When: October 11, 2023 noon ET Why attend: Alarm business operating software solution for Sales, Field Service, Customer Service, RMR (Recurring Monthly Revenue), Electronic contracts and Digital Signatures, all conveniently housed in one unified platform.
