Newly installed camera system. Commercial structure, synagogue. The administration wants me to enable audio recording in some of the public areas. Not inside any offices. There is signage which indicates video and audio recording. Legal or not? Thank you so much for your help and assistance as always. Jay G ************************** Response ************************** Not. Caveat: Legal to install it, not legal to listen or record. The Standard Form Commercial All in One puts the onus on the end user to use all systems lawfully. ************************** Ohio registration fees ************************* Ken, A few weeks ago I sent in an article about the false alarm registration fees and fines that were determined to be a tax rather than a way of reducing false alarms. This was part of the basis on which the alarm ordinance was overturned. I originally received an email from Sonya Walker of the Cincinnati false alarm unit saying no fees were being charged back in June. In the middle of this past August, Sonya email me saying that I was expired and needed to pay the re registration fee as it did not apply alarm companies as alarm companies were not taxpayers located in the city and that the appeal to throw out the fees and fines only covered residents of the city. Just wanted your take on this. Some of the biggest offenders of false alarms were the Cincinnati Police Impound Lot and Walnut Hills Height School. You can search for the videos that some of the local Cincinnati TV stations investigated this and reported on in YouTube. Thank you, Ron Baumann Cincinnati, Ohio *********************** Response *********************** The Ohio State Appellate Court was clear in its ruling: “We sustain appellants’ first two assignments of error. We reverse the trial court’s judgment granting summary judgment in favor of the city. We remand the matter to the trial court for the court to grant an injunction enjoining the city from imposing the alarm assessments under Cincinnati Municipal Code 807-1-A4 and to determine damages, if any.” Looks like the statute cannot be enforced. ************************** To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
