Such items could include someone wearing a utility uniform or having a stolen city vehicle and gaining or attempting to gain entry….. Mr. Worry Wart at work as wondering minds are wondering…. Respectfully, Joseph Pfefer *********************** Response *********************** I’ve been representing the alarm industry since 1975 and I am not aware of a central station being illegally compromised since then. I do recall that prior to 1975 a central station in NYC was compromised at gun point. I don’t recall who it was. I don’t think any operators were hurt but premises were robbed. I know there have been keys stolen from central stations and used to gain access to customer premises to commit burglary. I also know that responding guards have actually been the ones committing the burglary. There are still a few historians out there who can probably contribute more interesting details. On a more positive note I bet plenty of central stations think about this kind of possibility and have developed safeguards they may want to share with alarm dealers. I think the issue is one that a dealer has a right to ask the central station about, remote a possibility as it may seem. I guess we should be wondering if the mass protests and riots over the last few years is over or just a prelude to something much worse coming. This is something I am sure police stations think about and so should central stations. Along the same lines, it’s not just a central station being compromised that you need to be concerned about. A few years ago a client’s application to renew his pistol carry permit in NYC was denied. On “appeal” we argued that this alarm company owner had among his customers government and other sensitive and high profile facilities and that if he was compromised his could be forced to give up information on the security measures those facilities employed and how best to compromise them. The gun permit was issued. Now with new court decisions NYC is squirming to come up with new ways to thwart the right to carry; that’s a developing story. ********************* To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
