another comment on Missed Opportunities

Ken
We believe recent Newsletter comments from Mark Matlock, Ron Davis, Mitch Reitman, and others, re article, “….Missed Opportunities”, are appropriately timed, but not specific for most of your audience. We would like to be more specific for the remote monitoring segments of the alarm security industry.
Stakeholders are quietly confronting a critical “horse-to-automobile” type change, AKA doing business without support of local police. Remote monitoring firms are losing credibility, fast, all across the country. Even statewide legislation, like FL,TX,GA, has banned private monitoring firms from calling the police first until after clumsy interaction with the deterrent alarm customer via ECC-Enhanced Call Confirmation, which can translate into VR-Verified Response.  That can also translate into nasty legal issues for you, and destruction of RMR market value.  Ron Davis and others are helping lots of good people exit, or identify alternate sources of revenue to meet the nextgen of this special industry.

I hardly think exiting the alarm industry is the right answer.  On the contrary, the alarm industry appears to be growing emencely.  The alarm industry is a great industry to be in and to invest in.  Reliably RMR is like money in the bank.  Better if you have the Standard Form Agreements that permit increases of 9% a year.  Smart blacksmiths didn't get out of the transportation business, they became car dealers or vendor support for the car industry.  Ron and the other brokers listed on The Alarm Exchange can help you exit the alarm business, but don't do it because of DIY competition.  Instead get our Nationwide DIY contract [on sale now] and get richer.
