Congratulations. Knew about the case but never knew you were the alarm attorney.

Ken,
As Executive Claims Manager for Security America Risk Retention Group  (SARRG), I routinely authorize Defense Council to file for sanctions and costs against plaintiffs and even co-defendants.
You should know, you recovered  $100,000 dollars for a failure of another insurance company to accept a valid request to Tender the Defense of a SARRG insured.

We are still waiting for the order to be entered, to see if the plaintiff will appeal and whether our insurance company clients wants to pursue reimbursement of legal fees.  Of course plaintiff's counsel told us plaintiff is broke.

COMMENT ON DIY
************************
Ken
After 45 years in business it's Interesting the way an industry has evolved. I guess it was only a matter of time until we were invaded by companies and individuals after the quick buck.
The "free system" combined with the DIY have not helped the public's perception of what was once a serious subject addressed by professionals.
I can't wait for DIY medicine to bring affordable health care to every home in America.
No medical license required, surgical kits of all types available with instructions in multiple languages.
Not much difference when you think about it.

THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW
************************
Ken,
Is there a law in the State of NY  that when a phone company goes to perform work in a home with an alarm system that they must ask the homeowner if they have an alarm system?  Also aren't they required to send  a signal to Central Station before leaving the home ensuring that they did not disconnect the alarm?
Thank you.
Maria

Not that I am aware of in New York or anywhere else.  But there ought to be.  Matter of fact that same law should require an alarm company to test every signal with the central station.
