DUTY TO ADVISE ON USE OF AUDIO AND VIDEO SYSTEMS
***********************
Ken,
What are the legalities involved in recording audio in a public school classroom?  We have a school requesting us to quote a job that would have video and audio recording in the classrooms.  What would our liabilities be for this?

Your liability would be none provided you don't install the equipment in areas where they obviously don't belong.  I don't think it's the security professionals obligation to police the use of equipment.  The proposal should advise the school that they should use the system lawfully.
What is the liability of a car manufacture who sells cars that can reach speeds of 120 mph or more?  Does the manufacturer really have to include a statement in the manual that the driver should obey speed limits?
End users should get consent in most cases before using video and audio, and better be careful how the data is stored and used.  But that is the end user's problem, not likely the installer's problem.

LICENSE RECIPROCITY
********************
Ken,
I am a NYS Alarm license holder.  The company I qualify for is looking to do card access and security cameras in NJ.  As a NYS Alarm license holder, what do I need to do to obtain a NJ Security License?
I really enjoy your postings everyday.  It provides a great and valuable service for me and everyone in this industry.
Thank you,
Chris

You need to do the same thing anyone else would have to do because most states do not have reciprocity.  Best bet for NJ classes and license details can be found at http://www.njceucenter.com/  Bob Shoremount's njceucenter is listed on The Alarm Exchange in the Education Category
Hope you have a Qualifier Agreement with your company, and if you don't contact Jesse Kirschenbaum,Esq today.  516 747 6700 x 317 or jesse@KirschenbaumEsq.com
