Ken,

I'm the co-founder of 2gig and read many of your daily message to dealers.  I notice a dealer made a comment on 2gig and Costco on Nov 7, 2013.   Your reply to the dealer was right on.  Also, 2gig doesn't sell product to Costco.

The security dealer buys product and made the choice to sell costco as market channel. We don't control dealers which markets they choose to sell too.

    Keep up the good work.

In Florida I wonder if Costco has an Alarm Contractor’s License and there sales people are BASA/FASA Certified. If enough dealers file complaints with the contractors board it might make a difference. I will if I see it at our local  Costco.

Maybe the guy in the red vest will answer his phone at 2am when there is a problem and then jump in his truck to get the $99 purchase back on line.   Maybe he will bring a 5000 pack of tissues with him in case the DIY installation resulted in a loss or injury to the occupant of the "protected area".  Any one else with thoughts on this?

I think the question that remains to be answered is will DIY ulitmately hurt alarm dealer revenue or will it be a stimulus for added monitoring RMR opportunity and perhaps installation assistance and service issues that a DIY customer can't resolve on their own.

Will DIY change the residential alarm usage statistic from around 15% to a much higher number?
