One of the cool things about my job is the view.  I see across the playing field what is happening today in private practice.  And, when thinking about What's Cooking, my answer today is, A lot!  More than just the Great British Baking Show my kids are obsessed with on Netflix.  This time will be looked back on for many negatives, of course, but also for ingenuity and creativeness in operating moves.

“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity.” - Sun Tzu.

Every day I am speaking with you (or your colleagues) on the moves you've wanted to make (literally and figuratively).  I see practices taking new locations, hiring more staff, bringing on partners, expanding with associates, signing new vendor contracts for new technologies and more...  I am also seeing some practitioners looking for greener pastures (literally!), whether selling or closing the practice and looking for a custodian for the practice's records.   For the most part, all moves being made for the positive, whether for growth or quality of life.  Fewer and further between I am seeing retirements and disability claims; perhaps not on the rise, but more so accelerated by individuals with either applicable option on the mind in the next 1-3 years.  Why share such a broad and non specific overview?   Well, not just because I need a break writing about Covid testing and employee PTO (maybe I do!), but because these conversations and growth are happening, today, and perhaps reminding you will also serve as a tiny push to take a step towards a positive growth this month; your colleagues are!

Stay tuned for Thursday's newsletter, where we will get back to business and cover whether you can insist your staff participate in cell phone contact tracing.
