Nightmare take-over fire alarm account
******************************
Ken
We have a customer that we took over their account after the previous monitoring company abandoned them, and now I know why. Their system was installed with co2/smoke detector combos, and these expire after 6 years and send codes non-stop.
They won’t pay to get them replaced and the employees are instructed to just keep cancelling the alarm. This account is one of those “POS” accounts that I want to abandon. We are using your Commercial Fire All in One contract. What’s the best way to get away from this customer.
Thanks.

I guess this is one of those Be Careful What you Wish For moments.  You took over the account figuring you scored a home run, but it’s the company who lost the account whose laughing.
I suppose there are several ways to rid yourself of this account.  So many in fact, let me count the ways:
  *  You could raise the monitoring and other RMR charges by 9%
  *  You can charge for excessive signals
  *  You can dispatch the FD and not cancel the alarm; CO alarms don’t need verification
  *  You can ask the subscriber for its Certificate of Insurance naming you as additional insured; if the subscriber doesn’t have it dated from date of the Fire All in One, the subscriber is in breach of the contract and you can terminate the contract because of subscriber’s breach and hold the subscriber to the liquidated damages
  *  send case to K&K for collection
