more on closing your own monitoring center

Ken,
We appreciate your consistent advice and efforts in the security space!
We could not agree more with your assessment. In most cases, it does not make financial sense to run your own Central Station.      We find that the biggest hurdle for companies to shut down their central is the tradition, pride and emotional attachment they have to the business and their employees. We also understand the difficulty in making that decision. But, there are options that can bridge the gap. Quick Response has Fusion Monitoring and Hosted Central Station offerings that can save a company significant money. By participating in these offerings, companies are still able to retain some of their employees and still have their Central Station. We can handle all the infrastructure as well as offer load balancing, part time monitoring and ultimate flexibility while maintaining UL 827 listing and TMA Five Diamond Certification. It affords a company a way to transition into using a wholesale Central Station, attained through a partnership with a professional wholesaler, Quick Response Monitoring.

Does Your Central Station Nickel And Dime You To Death?

We feel like our central station is nickel and dimes us to death.  Is there anything we can do about it?

You can look for another monitoring center. But first you need to look at your Dealer Agreement with the central station, something you probably should have done before you signed it and moved your accounts to this monitoring center. I am often asked to review the Dealer Agreement for subscriber clients and I make plenty of important changes, but I admit that I don't usually look at the monetary issues because that is a business decision that the dealer and central station should understand and appreciate. You need to carefully read that agreement now because it has the terms, including financial terms, that you agreed to.
The Monitoring Center business is fiercely competitive. Dealers do have choices. Don't be shy about approaching your Monitoring Center's owner or manager and let them know you feel you are being overcharged. I suggest you make sure you bill is up to date before you make that call.

Master Agreement not always useful

Ken,
Why don't you recommend a master agreement with rider for commercial fire. We have school districts that I use this for all the time.

The Master Rider turns the Commercial All in One into a "master agreement" covering multiple locations. It works best when the services at each location are the same or similar. Commercial fire alarm installations usually involve plans and permits and each installation is really different than any other. It would be difficult to have one agreement that covered other location. Of course if you are not doing installation, and only service, monitoring and inspection, then the Master Rider would work well with the Fire All in One.
