Wasn’t sure if you’re aware of Medicare’s latest best kept secret - Annual Wellness Visits or AWV has joined the list of 2011 payable preventative services. Of course implementing this new code into a medical practice may be a bit tricky and there’s a lot of mumbo jumbo regarding how and when to bill it but the long and short of it is that it must include a Personal Preventative Plan Service (PPPS),there’s a FIRST and SUBSEQUENT coding sequence AND the 2 code sequence CANNOT be billed within 12 months of each other, members effective date or the “Welcome to Medicare” code that they rolled out a few years ago.
