I've been meaning to ask, can my medical assistants administer flu shots?

Answer:

Totally depends on where you practice.  In NY, the answer is no.  The NY Board of Medicine makes it very clear that medical assistants, individuals without any additional licensure, are not authorized to give injections of any kind.  The tasks medical assistants are authorized to perform include:

The NY Board of Medicine explicitly addresses tasks a medical assistant cannot perform and includes:

Failing to adhere to the restrictions for unlicensed staff may give rise to a licensure claim of  "permitting, aiding or abetting an unlicensed person to perform activities requiring a license", which constitutes unprofessional conduct.  For more information on this topic, click here
