My humble following questions are regarding the defeat of the intrusion alarm: * Was there are UL certificate in place (mandating proper vault or mercantile equipment and then mandated annual testing and prompt response in the event a trouble condition was notated on the account). * Was there not a Potter VSA (vault sound alarm) or other type of alarm equipment [such as wall/ceiling sensors] within the vault to detect the beginnings of the attack? * Was there not a motion detector within the vault itself to backup the VSA device as well as a smoke detector (in the event the burglars used torch or burning bar attack tools?) * How was the Central Station connection defeated – was this ever determined (i.e.; no line security, line security but no encryption to defeat with ‘black boxing’ of the line security device, cell type of service [which we all knows what happened there with cell jammers] ) Thanks for the ‘Oceans 11’ or was it ‘Oceans 7’ movie script for the upcoming ‘coming to a theater near you!’ movie…….. NOW, tooting my OWN horn: go to my web site’s BLOG section ( www.jadealarm.com/blog) as we just defeated the crafty criminals using our radio network (*call me if you wish further information)– appears they had hired on as part of the cleaning crew to scope out how to EXACTLY penetrate the security to Stephen Burstein’s Jewelry. These mental giants (gotta give them credit as they knew EXACTLY where to cut through the different walls during the initial attack) took off like a ‘bat out of He**’ when the Leawood PD showed up – estimated 3-minute response time! Appears (from previous experience I have had with these types of criminals) there was a ‘spotter’ to ensure a quick exit (stage right – per the Pink Panther). NO LOSS INCURRED – except for the damage to part of the building and destroyed our alarm system equipment (*criminals had absolutely NO sense of decency regarding the gentle treatment of our alarm equipment)! The law enforcement detectives recovered a satchel of tools complete with the cell jammer that unsuccessfully was utilized. Wandering minds are wondering (*and doing a little bragging)……….. Your humble scrivener……… Respectfully, Joseph (Joe) Pfefer, Founder & C.E.O. (Chief Encouragement Officer) Jade Alarm Co. ************************* Response ************************* The burglary I reported on has a few other interesting issues besides the technical items above. The claim is for over 4 million and that’s lot more than the insurance of the dealer. Dealer’s carrier has already agreed to cover the central station, who the dealer agreed to indemnify and name as additional insured, but the dealer is certainly exposed beyond the policy limits. Dealers protect yourself by getting and using the Rider to Central Station Dealer Agreement, and be sure to use the proper K&K Standard Form Agreement for the system and services you are providing. Central stations, be sure your dealers have and use proper contracts and carry minimum limits of insurance for their operation since you intend to rely on that coverage. ************************ Holiday Party 2024 – this is your invitation - rsvp if attending ************************** The K&K Holiday Party will be on December 12, 2024 in Old Westbury, NY from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.
