Ken

After reading the post on Januaryt 18 2014 about how  “that even a child could install” one of these mail-order alarm systems, I realized how backwards we are moving in the alarm industry.  Our industry has fought to reduce false dispatches by better training of technicians, better design of equipment, proper training of end-users, and verification of alarms.  I just “googled” the simplisafe product and read some reviews by so-called “customers”.  One guy says he installed his entire 4000 square-foot house in 30 minutes!  He said he took his time because he didn’t want any trouble with false alarms.  I want to hire this super-tech today.  I imagine he doesn’t need a truck, he can fly from job to job.

What, are we out of our minds?  How long do you think it will be before all these motion sensors mounted in front of air-ducts, or improperly gapped door sensors will cause so many false dispatches that we slide quickly back toward NO RESPONSE?

Our alarm associations should consider some form of pre-emptive legislation to at least have an inspection by a certified professional, before these home-owner installed systems are connected for police respsonse.

Ken,

Arizona finally broke the ice and now has one city that got it right.

Surprise, Az. approved verified response during the January 14th council meeting. This is a huge step forward for the sectors of the industry who sell complete security to include; cross zoning, video, audio, or guard response.

Surprise had 4,000 dispatches of which only 4 resulted in evidence of criminal activity having taken place. Only 7% of Surprise residence have alarms and alarms accounted for 8% of total police dispatches. Guard response is available for $35 per dispatch to all alarm companies.

We hope this provides a broadened market for all alarm dealers and helps relieve the tension amongst Arizona alarm dealers. With the escalation of new competition coming into the market place, we hope Verified Response allows the cream to rise to the top and those who are solely out for the quick takeovers to be required to reassess their market strategy.

For more information on the benefits of Verified Response, go to http://arizonaalarmdealers.org/Verified_Response.html

Thanks for your help informing alarm dealers,

Roger D. Score, President

Arizona Alarm Dealers Association
