The way of doing the calculations is as follows: CPI-U for the month contract signed CPI-U for the month the calculation is done Percentage difference (up or down) Example - CPI-U March 2014 236.293 CPI-U March 2024 312.332 312.332-236.293 = 76.039 76.039/236.293 = 32.18% increase over this period Barren V ************************* Response ************************* Do you think that’s easier than just using 9% per annum, which the Standard Form Agreements use? I don’t. I think the CPI can be confusing as hell, and many alarm company owners won’t be able to find the CPI, figure out which CPI they need and get the calculations for the start and finish dates. My guess is that if your alarm contract has CPI increases it has all kinds of other provisions that I won’t like; you won’t like them either. Here’s a better idea. Get and use Standard Form Agreements and stop swimming up-stream.
