comment on Telguard TG-7

****************

Ken,

I read the problems people are having with the Telguard TG-7. I have had major problems. Their tech support and George Broady the VP basically have told me its the carriers fault AT&T. The real problem is the Sim card and internal clock. When it reboots the panel goes down and we have to go to the site to power cycle it back up. Our accounts are all over the Southeast. I am in the process of sending a letter and bill of $ 6,786.00 to Joe Battie the President. I have been in business for 25 years and would like to settle this without litigation, ya right.

Please advise.

Kind Regards,

Johnny Richards

I am sure we would welcome a response from the manufacturer of this product. As I mentioned in my prior article, I believe a manufacturer should stand behind its product and reimburse a dealer's labor expense under certain circumstances, which would include when the manufacturer knows or should know that the product is causing problems and needs to be replaced. I am not suggesting that Telguard TG-7 is such a product, but we are getting some comments and haven't heard from the manufacturer yet.

sales tax issue

*****************

Hello Ken,

There is a Texas Distributor who mailed me a notice dated March 27, 2012 that I received on March 31,2012 their letter states…“ through a state sales tax audit, we discovered that Texas state sales and use tax was not assessed to your order at time of purchased and we do not have a resale or exemption certificate on file”…” if you are not exempt submit your tax directly to”…Please not that we purchased CCTV products from this company since 2007. Their Sales Manager took all of telephone and I paid them based on their instructions. All of our orders were done telephonically. We never looked at the invoice when it was attached to the order…we took it and filed it…We received a notice from this Distributor that we never paid taxes on all of the products we ordered. We never mentioned to anyone, we never submitted anything in writing that we are tax exempt company. We strongly believe that the error was made by their Representative and I should not have to pay for these taxes. We paid the invoice online as we placed the order. Do we owe these taxes they are claiming? I can imagine the ripple effect it will cause my company…We are also a Texas company.

Taxes they claim we owe are:

2007: $953.43

Note: The ledger they sent me is very suspicious in the sense that their calculations do not add up…

Sincerely,

Al

another tax question

For the forum.

I have an anxiety about taxes. There are so many different opinions on it. You sell a security system and it becomes part of the home therefore company pays taxes when they buy the equipment and consumer isn’t charged tax because it becomes part of the home which is taxed by its value and [now increased value with the system installed]. Then I here that we should be charging taxes for installed equipment. Residential vs. Commercial difference. Monitoring fees are never taxed because it’s a service which maybe I’m wrong. Labor is never taxed which I feel pretty confident on that one. We do business in Missouri. I have had a tough time finding and expert accountant that specializes in the field of security like you Ken and I just haven’t received that confident response that gives me a warm and fuzzy. Maybe you have room in your forum sometime to see what others are doing. Maybe someone knows a good Missouri accountant

Thanks for your forum
