Comment on supporting SIAC
**********************
Ken
I have benefited from the use of your contracts as well as enjoyed your Email Blog and postings for many years.
Your posting dated October 26, 2024 mentioned that you wished SIAC may want to open its participation to the industry. The good news is that SIAC works throughout the country to assist our industry with municipal regulation issues that can threaten our ability to service and protect our customers. SIAC is also the voice of our industry on alarm management issues with the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriff’s Association as well as statewide law enforcement associations.
SIAC was created more than 20 years ago by a consortium of CANASSA , CSAA/TMA, SIA and NBFAA/ESA to represent our industry and promote effective alarm management ordinances that reduce false alarms and continue police response.
As a Past President of NBFAA /ESA from 2008-2010 and on the executive committee before that I have observed SIAC’s law enforcement liaisons assist our industry throughout the country.
How can you participate frankly was a great statement and opportunity to support SIAC by contributing $100-$500 -$1000 or more annually!
My Company now sold is on the east side of the state so am not necessarily affected by what is happening in Seattle on the west side of the state. I believe that is short sighted thinking. If I don’t support SILSA and SIAC eventually non-response will come to my side of the state and your state as well. I plan to continue to support SIAC with the same amount of $3500 annually.
One thing about our industry that I have loved over the years is that we have Leaders and companies that are willing to help others generously.
So my challenge is for everyone to send in what you can annually because someday you will need SIAC’s support in your state and jurisdiction.  If companies want to donate, they can do so via Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/donate
Alternatively they can send a check to the following address: https://siacinc.org/donate/

Response
************************
Responding to a comment regarding the Seattle PD video or audio verification requirement I commended SIAC and also stated:
“SIAC may want to open up its participation to more of the alarm industry.”
I confess, making monetary contributions was not what I had in mind.  Actual participation is what I had in mind, in the same way I encourage alarm owners to get involved and participate in their local alarm associations, as well as ESA.  It’s the participation I think would be valuable and rewarding on a personal level and professional level and for the industry at large.
So my question is, how does one get involved and actually participate?
