Actions for some of the alarm companies today, send the police when you have a burg signal and everything else is the customer's responsibility. Why are the alarm companies not checking the DAILY reports and notifying the customer that they have a situation that is in need of immediate attention. They are never too busy to call them when the customer is past due for the monitoring service. Companies that do not attend to their customers get what they deserve. What about the police department? Are they there just for the alarm company? And a customer with a faulty alarm? All alarm companies suffer from the actions of "get the monitor contract and move on the next victim" policies. Don't let your city become one that have a "No Alarm Response", take care of your customer. Thank you, Robert K. Rosen (over 52 years in the business / yes, I am old and grumpy but I use K&K contracts) Century Electronic Alarm Systems, Inc. Burglar and Fire Alarm Systems Company Established 1969 Robert@centuryalarms.com 305-274-2680 ********************** Response ********************* And everyone thought I was cynical …. Of course most alarm companies could do more to audit their customer’s systems. It would be good business especially because of the evolution of technology and availability of new products and services. Your customer base is good place to start with upgrades and increasing your RMR. Sure, that’s not how it works all the time and every business owner starts to focus on new business rather than existing customers. I read an interesting condition on a recent agreement to purchase accounts recently. I confess I haven’t seen it in any deal I have done, and BTW, I won’t be using it in my deals. The condition on a “Qualified account” to be included in the sale is that the central station received at least one signal in past 6 to 12 months. OK, I guess that would show the system is communicating. But most systems probably don’t have test signals and the goal is not to receive any signals, false or otherwise. Anyway, I struck it from the agreement. Robert’s sage advice is sound. Pay attention to your customers and checking central station activity reports is one thing you should be able to do. ************************* Help this forum grow - and thanks to those who have already responded ******************** If you are on The Alarm Exchange you should welcome exposure on this forum provides.
