3 day notice when using mail

We are also updating our existing client’s monitoring agreements. In our case we are sending them the updated contract along with an offer for a discount for longer terms. I don’t believe we need the 3-day cancellation part as they are returning the signed contracts by email, correct?
Anonymous please.

That is correct. If the sale is entirely through the mail, which it often is when getting an existing customer to sign a new contract, there is no need for the 3 day notice.     Think of the 3 day notice as a cooling off period to balance aggressive in home sales tactics.
Keep in mind however that when you go to sell your accounts the buyer is likely going to be asking if you used the 3 day notice on all residential sales. It will be your up-hill battle to convince the buyer that the cancellation form was not needed in particular circumstances.

another 3 day notice question

Ken
How do we enter the "cancel by date" on cancellation form when sent to customer for Esigniture, the contract date will be the day they sign and that may not be date we send it to them.
Thank you
Phil

If your customer is signing the contract electronically then you should be using the Disclosure and Consent to Electronic Communication form. You would then be presenting the 3 day notice of cancellation in the same electronic format, and at the same time, that you present the electronic contract.
When a contract is signed at the home and the 3 day notice is required, the notice is dated the same day as the day the contract is signed. If you take the contract back to the office to be signed by an officer of the company, and then mail it to the customer for the customer's signature, then the 3 day notice of cancellation should be dated the date the customer is likely to get the contract already signed by you in the mail. This is a cumbersome way to handle contract execution. A better practice would be to have the customer sign the contract in the home and give the 3 day notice for at that time. Leave a fully executed copy of the contract [which means the salesman can sign it on behalf of the company, or an officer has already signed it].
