HHS Report: Insurance Companies Prosper, Families Suffer

U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services released a report on Industry Profits and Premium Hikes, providing a comprehensive and brief overview.  This report is accessible here:

In local news, Stony Brook University Hospital is no longer an in-network provider for Aetna, as the two have failed to reach acceptable contract rates for eithe party.  Lengthy negotiations have not resulted in an agreement, and as a result Aetna sent termination letters to some 23,000 members last month. 

Next Tuesday is the deadline for a new agreement to be reached.
